Hi baby boy,
We did some family things today. I am thankful that can manage things like this after everything that has gone on this past year. I want to get out and see the island one last round before we leave, so daddy suggested one of the Botanical Gardens. We’ve been to Wahiawa and Ho’omaluhia, so I wanted to go to a different one. We went to Foster Botanical Garden down in the city. Your siblings were less than enthused, but I got Lucas on board when I told him about the butterfly garden.
When we got there, your brothers were excited because they had the bird checklist that we had done at Wahiawa before. I remember, you were really into it. The boys were over it about halfway through because they weren’t seeing many birds. They did see a mongoose for the first time, which I was surprised about. Maybe it’s because they don’t like to hike as much, but they loved the mongoose and kept trying to get it to love them. Instead, it ran away. By the end of the botanical garden, I completely ruined Lucas’ life. When I saw “butterfly garden”, I thought it was one of those netted off places where the butterflies were just flying around. I was very wrong. It was an outdoor butterfly garden, which meant there were a few butterflies flying around the area because the plants attracted them. Your brother’s exact words to me were, “I was really excited for this?”.
Ellie pulled an “Isaiah move” today. I have no idea how. At the botanical garden, she had two crocs. We drove about fifteen minutes and stopped at a lookout and it was there that Ellie realized she only had one croc. It’s gone. I’m guessing she took them off as soon as we got in the car from the botanical garden, she took them off, and the one fell out of the car before the door closed. She claims that she waited until the door was closed, but there is no other explanation. We did think maybe you did something with it as a joke. Managing to lose a shoe in such a situation is most definitely a you move.
To end the day, we went to eat at Kono’s in Kailua. It was delicious. On the way home, I asked daddy what he thought you would have gotten to eat. He said the Kalua Pig Nachos. As a small added detail, that’s what Ellie and Elijah got and it was delicious. I guessed you would have gotten the Kailua Sliders, but would have struggled to choose because they didn’t come with a side. Instead, you would probably try and talk us into getting you two meals. However, if you only got the one meal, you would finish off all your siblings’ meals. As you usually did, you would ask them each at least a hundred times if they were done eating to ensure you got whatever was leftover.
I would give everything I have to be able to hear from you that you’re okay. I always watched this one Medium show on Netflix and now secretly hope that I run into the guy on the street somewhere and he tells me you want to say something. He does it with celebrities, so I feel like my only time possibly running into him would be here in Hawaii. I know, it’s crazy. I can dream though, right?
I’m going to get to bed, sweetie. Elijah had a bad dream last night and ended up in my bed. He took the entire blanket and had to be touching me with his foot or leg the whole time. I love you more than anything, baby. Goodnight and sweet dreams.
