My baby boy,
Tonight I was looking through the freezer and saw a freezer bag shoved in the back. I grabbed it, only to discover it was Lucas’ snowball he put in there from our first and only snow when we moved here in February. It didn’t snow much at all, so there’s also a bunch of leaves and sticks in the bag, too. However, it made me smile and think of your snowballs in both Missouri and Virginia.
You had been saving snowballs in our freezer since you were around three years old. There was one in particular that you would just ask to see a few times a year, just to make sure we still had it. Unfortunately, I think we had to throw it away before we moved. I didn’t think there was any way the snowball could survive the two day, one night trip to Virginia.
When we were in Virginia, you had me save a snowball and even got Lucas doing it, too. Daddy never quite understood it and thought it was a little ridiculous, but it made you happy and barely took up any room in the freezer so I let you keep it.
Here we are now, stuck living each day without you, but still saving snowballs. I love you more than anything, baby. Goodnight and sweet dreams.
