My baby boy,
Hello handsome. I was productive and got all the Christmas decorations taken down today, including the outside! Don’t worry though, I left the orange and black spider from Halloween on the tree. At this point, he needs to just bring happiness to the rest of the neighbors. Miss Brenda and I talked and think he needs something special for Valentine’s Day. Maybe I will let him live out the rest of his days in Hawaii on that tree and I will just bring him in when the movers come.
I don’t know how long we will be without beds this time around. Nothing will ever come close to the three months without a bed when we came here. Our window of when the movers come is February 4th to the 10th. Worst case scenario, we have no beds and sleep on air mattresses for three weeks. We are looking for beds now so they can be up in the new house when we get there. Air mattresses only last so long with you guys. In the three months from Virginia to Hawaii I think we went through about ten air mattresses.
I made pork and sauerkraut for dinner today. It said to be “good luck” on New Year’s Day. I have my doubts, since I’ve been eating that every year since I was a child, but it’s a tradition. My Aunt Bev used to make it every year when we went to her house for New Year’s Day and that’s the one thing I held on to and still do.
I’m keeping it shorter tonight because Ellie wrote you a letter. I love you more than anything, my sweet boy. Goodnight and sweet dreams.
