My sweet boy,

We created your quilt square today at The Caring Place. We were the last ones there, because like everything else I do that involves talking about you, I needed to make sure enough was on the square. There is a small spot on the top left hand side for Ellie to decorate next week when she’s back. I made sure to FaceTime both her and daddy to make sure they didn’t have any additions or changes.

We put a Steelers helmet on for your love of the Steelers, even though you started to cheer for them just to go against daddy and annoy him. There is a Philadelphia Eagles helmet because this last season you were starting to embrace the Eagles more and were a fan of both Pennsylvania teams. Then there is a soccer ball because soccer was your favorite sport. I put on each state that you lived in and the order that you lived in, followed by an Army dog tag since you lived the life of a military brat the entire time. Your brothers chose to put Bomb on from Angry Birds since you liked that movie and game and they wanted the TNT box that can technically also count towards a Minecraft TNT box even though it’s not the colors or the writing. Lucas found a skateboard and picked the one he thought you would have liked best. We also included a Minion because you loved the Minions, Despicable Me, and couldn’t wait to see Despicable Me 4 when it came out in a few weeks. I’m not sure why your brothers chose Kevin, but they wanted him.

Lucas and Elijah both wanted to draw something on the square. Elijah drew a heart, but apologizes that it was upside down. He wasn’t at the wrong side of the quilt square, he just somehow drew it upside down. I told him not to worry and that you’d still love it. Lucas went ahead and drew a picture of the two of you. He actually did draw his design upside down because he was too excited to start and couldn’t wait and move to the other side of the table.

We added the palm trees since Hawaii was your favorite place to live, a calculator since you loved math and were so good at it, and included Santa and some Jack-o-lanterns since Christmas and Halloween were your favorite holidays. Minecraft and a video game controller were included considering both were very important to you and we couldn’t forget the piece of pizza. There were different kinds of pizza on the fabric, but none with just cheese. We decided to go with pepperoni since you would sometimes eat that. I wouldn’t dare put a mushroom covered piece of pizza on your quilt. I added a butterfly since you were an organ donor, Lucas thought this was the prettiest one.

There wasn’t any fabric with Captain Underpants or Dog Man on it, so I just had to write both of those things in. I wrote “Lego Master” in red since it was your favorite color, you loved that show, and that’s what you wanted to be when you got older. Finally, I wrote “baby boy” as a little addition from daddy since he called you that all the time. I hope you like it.

I love you more than anything, my baby. Goodnight and sweet dreams.
