My baby boy,
We got some bad news today. We took Apollo to the vet to kind of get an idea of what is going on and he has a brain tumor. We aren’t going to let him suffer, but your brother’s birthday is also tomorrow. They gave him some steroids and some anti-nausea medicine to try and give us a few more days with him. I told Lucas we will be sure to get Apollo something from McDonald’s tomorrow when we go there for his birthday meal. Maybe a cheeseburger, maybe some chicken nuggets, maybe both of those things. He deserves it. I will let you know when you need to be ready for him, my guess is on July 3rd since July 4th is a holiday and places will be closed and then it’s the weekend. I don’t want to prolong Apollo’s suffering. We will see how he’s doing.
We stopped at Rita’s on the way home for Apollo, but he didn’t want to eat his pup cup of custard. However, he seemed to love just sitting outside at the table and just looking around. He’s always been way too high energy to do that so he got to come and just hang out with us out there.
You know how I always said that things happened at a certain time for a reason? I find it a crazy coincidence that Apollo went downhill so quickly and we figured this all out the little bit of time that daddy was here to visit. It’s like there was that little bit of the universe that was working in my favor to make sure I didn’t have to do this myself. The universe worked to make sure that daddy also got a chance to say “goodbye” to Apollo.
Tomorrow is Lucas’ birthday. Tomorrow is another landmark we will hit that will hit a little different because of you. It is crazy to notice how different Lucas is from you at the same age. You were off biking with Carson and picking up trash from “stuff city” all the time and Lucas is still attached to me. You definitely had more independence, but I attribute that to you being a “middle child” and blame Covid, because, why not?
I thought you should know that Elijah pulled a full Isaiah today. We took Apollo to the vet, had to drive a whole twenty-seven minutes to get there, then when we are getting out of the car Elijah finally just realizes he never put on his shoes or even brought them. Luckily daddy at least found trampoline park socks in the van for him to wear. The craziest part was that he wasn’t really bothered by the fact that h forgot his shoes, he just said he forgot them and continued walking in.
Ugh, please watch over us, sweetie. I love you more than anything in the world. Goodnight and sweet dreams.
