My sweet boy,
I feel like you gave me my sign and the answer to my question. When I woke up this morning, Ellie pointed out a card that she made and was sitting on the table by my bed. Ellie hasn’t written me a note or anything since before you left us. She usually gave me one when she knew it was a rough day based on the environment. The card was beautiful and came out of nowhere. I asked her after what the reason for the card was, even though she didn’t need a reason. She told me there wasn’t one, but maybe her card was the sign from you. That way, it’s like both of you are telling me the same thing.
Elijah had a soccer game today. He wore the shin guards that you wore your last season of soccer. They were a little bigger, but we were running late and couldn’t find his other ones. As soon as I told him they were the last ones you had, he was happy to wear them.
They lost, as usual, but he got a “toughness” award because he got hit in the face with the ball and kept going. He did really well at defense and playing goalie, but could use you to help him practice. He needs to be a little more aggressive with going after the ball and you were always good at that.
We had a Family Movie Night tonight and watched The Croods. It was your pick today and your siblings all agreed on watching that as one of the movies you liked. I have realized that I haven’t looked at anything since we lost you as really “family”. There were a few things, but I never called them that. This is the first “family” event with me and your siblings that I’ve focused on. It’s us against the world.
I love you more than anything, baby boy. Goodnight and sweet dreams.
